Greatly influenced by the works of Frank Frazetta, Michelangelo, Da Vinci, and the various art in Heavy Metal Magazine, Damian Zari spent many hours of his youth drawing instead of participating in school. Many of his teachers commented that he'd better do something with his talent since he wasn't paying attention! After school he applied for work with an airbrushing company in southern California. He was handed an airbrush and told to figure it out. His talented landed him the job and he began his pursuit in art; airbrushing and screen printing shirts and banners to client specifications.
Damian moved back to his birthtown of Portland, Oregon in 1997. His work has since been published in the Daily Journal of Commerce, Willamette Week, been shown at Backspace and Weapons of Mass Compassion and was a finalist in the Illustrators of the Future contest. He has also done logo design for Oregon Trial Lawyers Association and Fabric Fiber.
In 2007 he finally "stopped going" to his cubicle job and became a vendor at the famous Portland Saturday Market. He is currently studying to become a tattoo artist.
